Possible problems with running the Java applet

ActionClockTicks applet is JavaTM 2 Platform, Standard Edition, v 1.4 applet. Therefore if you want to run it on your computer you need to have the Sun's Java 2 runtime environment (JRE) installed. If it is not installed at your computer, you will have to install it manually. Visit the web site:

http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2/index.html

and choose to download your appropriate JRE (depending on what operating system you use). You should follow the instructions that appear on your screen (unfortunately, this is a lengthy process, especially if you don't have a fast internet connection). But the entire process works out pretty automatically.

As a result of the download and subsequent installation, the so called Java Plug-in will be activated on your computer. Java Plug-in extends the functionality of a web browser, allowing applets to be run under Sun's Java 2 runtime environment (JRE) rather than the Java runtime environment that comes with the web browser. Java Plug-in is part of Sun's JRE and is installed with it when the JRE is installed on a computer. It works with both Netscape and Internet Explorer.
